Sarah Russell

Senior Associate,
Clayton Utz
Current student, Master of Commercial Law

I have practised law in Australia and the UK for several years. I completed my undergraduate degree in Law in 1996 in England. I relocated to Australia in 2003.

Until fairly recently, my principal area of practise has been corporate and commercial litigation. I have a real interest in competition law and was keen to expand my experience and expertise in that area. I originally enrolled in Melbourne Law School's Graduate Diploma in Competition Law. Having completed four competition law subjects to achieve my Graduate Diploma, I have now transferred to the Master of Commercial Law as there were still so many subjects of interest and relevance to my work.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience of studying at Melbourne Law School. The teaching staff are excellent and experts in their field, the flexibility offered by the intensive subjects is perfect for busy professionals and the content has been of real and practical significance to my work. I particularly like the interactive nature of the classes and hearing from external presenters who practise in the area. I have also had the opportunity to meet others who practise in the area of competition law.

I am based in Western Australia, but chose Melbourne Law School as it had the best range of subjects and has a world class reputation as a Law School. It also offers great flexibility and the intensive subjects are an excellent way for full time professionals to manage work and study. A number of friends and colleagues also recommended Melbourne Law School from their own experiences.
