Melbourne Law School success in prestigious construction law prize

Melbourne Law Masters Co-Director of Studies for Construction Law, Mr Matthew Bell, has been recognised in a prestigious construction law competition.

The SCL Hudson Prize is offered each year by the Society of Construction Law in London for substantial essays on a construction law topic.

In the recently-announced results of the 2008 competition, Mr Bell's essay, on damages for defective work, was judged Highly Commended by the panel of judges.

In the same competition, an essay by Master of Laws graduate Trevor Thomas on agreements to negotiate achieved a Commendation.  Mr Thomas, who is undertaking a Master of Laws by Thesis under the supervision of Associate Professor Fred Ellinghaus, is a Senior Associate in the Construction and Major Projects group at law firm Clayton Utz in Melbourne.
