University of Melbourne

Established in 1853, Melbourne is Australia's second oldest university. The Parkville campus is a five-minute tram ride or a 15-minute walk from the City of Melbourne - Australia's second largest city. Positioned right next to the inner-city suburb of Carlton, the campus is compact and beautifully landscaped with its 150-year history embodied in its architecture. The campus is equipped with theatres, art galleries, computer suppliers, sports facilities, banks, eateries, a chemist, hair salon, post office, travel agent, newsagent, and stalls selling fresh fruit, vegetables and flowers.

The University of Melbourne has eleven faculties offering an enormous range of courses and specialisations from which to choose. There is now a student population of more than 9,100 postgraduate students and 26,000 undergraduate students who are supported by some 2,520 academic staff with expertise and interests in a wide range of subject areas. There is also a strong international student presence with more than 4,600 scholars from some 80 countries.
